Los Angeles Mural Artist for Hire

I am a mural artist for hire based in the Los Angeles & Southern California area. I specialize in exterior large scale spray paint murals. However, I’m also the original founder of a national mural company with access to hundreds of local Los Angeles artists to make any project feasible. Some examples of styles that are possible include abstract, signage, graffiti, street art and realism. In addition, I absolutely love to create conceptual designs that are interactive and work with an existing environment.

As a local artist in the Los Angeles area, I have worked on several projects in neighborhoods including: Highland Park, Venice Beach, Pasadena, DTLA and Santa Monica. Furthermore, I am also available for commission work in the surrounding areas such as Orange County and the Valley. My passion is travel and I’m always open to working with different communities to create art that generates positive dialogue. In fact, I actually traveled full time by RV for 5+ years working on a national mural project called the Greetings Tour. Together with my wife, we created timeless public art landmarks from coast to coast.

There’s a lot of talented mural artist out there today. However, I am able to story tell with my artwork which involves a lot of critical thinking in the conception of a piece. As a featured artist, I am open to speaking opportunities about my art and as well as participating in panel discussions.

MURAL ART EXPERIENCE

As an Asian American mural artist, I have had a lot of experience with all styles of artwork. I did not attend a formal art school so my craft has been fully self-taught. I got into the medium of spray paint as a graffiti artist growing up in New York City. I experimented with various styles to figure out what I loved to paint. This process is constantly evolving but I am grateful for the opportunity that street art has given me.

I have also managed and consulted on large scale mural projects that consist of large teams of artists to execute murals in a tight timeframe. Mural project management and logistics is my specialty when it comes to art production. I love to be able to work with teams of talented artists with a united passion to create. Check out some of the projects I have worked on with various local Los Angeles mural artists over the years.

CREATIVE PROCESS

Clients often request some common imagery to include in the mural as a starting point. Specifically for a Los Angeles mural, I am often asked to incorporate the DTLA skyline, Palm Trees, Hollywood sign and Venice Beach. While some of the content may be cliche, there are creative ways to include these iconic elements without feeling overdone. My goal is to create a timeless piece of artwork and I would be happy to consult on things that would work to get that across visually.

All of my work starts with a discussion followed by a creative brief. Secondly, I create some rough concept directions that leads to an initial sketch. Thirdly, I go back and forth with the client with rounds of revisions to get them to a place where they are happy. Finally, keep in mind that the sketch is a blueprint of the mural artwork. The actual artistry happens through the translation onto the wall. Often times, clients are not aware that the design & prep time far outweighs the actual painting time!

Los Angeles Mural Cost & Pricing

Our mural agency was the one that popularized the now standard sq. ft. rate formula to price murals. However, it is not that simple to estimate the cost of a mural. It ultimately comes down to the labor time and supplies. As a result, we factor in level of detail, colors and size of the canvas to come up with a more accurate estimate. In addition, our sq. ft. pricing is based on a unique sliding scale formula with minimums per tier. Finally, the value of art is also very subjective to collectors and fanbase of certain artists.
