MURAL MAINTENANCE
We use the highest quality materials to create our murals since they are meant to be timeless landmarks. Check out our instructions on how to best prepare a wall for a mural. Once our mural has been painted, you can go the extra step to add protection to extend the longevity of the artwork. Below are a few products that we recommend for UV protection as well as anti-graffiti coatings.
#1 Permashield Premium - Monopole, Inc.
Permashield Premium - This is the best product that we have used so far! It’s both a UV & anti-graffiti coating in one product. It does require a mixed two part solution that need to be used within an hour of mixing. It can also be either rolled or sprayed on. We recommend using a matte finish (even though it dries more of a Satin finish) for any clear coats so that it does not reflect too much light in photos. When you first apply this, it’s a bit scary because it looks milky white but it ends up drying crystal clear. Please make sure that you use their Citrus Cleaner Super product if you ever need to clean off any graffiti. To cover a standard size mural of ours up to 300 sq ft. using a roller, we would recommend a 2 gallon kit (+/- $600 shipped domestically / TBD by location) We have an account with this vendor if you need to order the product through us!

MuralShield & World’s Best Graffiti Coating - UV & anti-graffiti coating combo products. However, this requires two separate coatings and needs a sprayer for the initial step. We’ve had this product applied to some murals on our behalf and seems to work great. This particular anti-graffiti coating product needs to be reapplied after removal. The company also has their own line of different cleaner products as well. There’s a lot of guides and information about the application of their products on their website.
Modern Masters MasterClear Supreme - This product is a UV protectant only. “MasterClear Supreme is a water base self-crosslinking acrylic/aliphatic polyurethane protective topcoat that dries quickly to a crystal clear finish. It has outstanding gloss retention and clarity with added UV Blockers and Absorbers that greatly reduce the sun’s graying and fading effects on stained wood and painted surfaces, keeping them looking fresh for years. The Innovative Low VOC Formula has very little odor and exceeds all National and Regional VOC category requirements!”
