Greetings Tour - The Original Postcard Mural Artists

Canton, OH

UPDATE (7/21/2023): Unfortunately, we have to remove this mural from our map since it has been painted over. Thank you to all who have stopped by to share their memories. Hopefully, we can return to paint another one in Canton one day since this was a very meaningful mural (it’s Lisa’s hometown!)

Greetings from Canton, Ohio - Lisa's hometown! We had approached Arts in Stark when we were RV shopping back in December 2014 about possibly doing a mural somewhere in town. Four months later, we made it happen! In April of 2015, we drove to Ohio from NYC to pick up our new home, the Greetings RV aka Honeybear. While in town, we stayed with Lisa's sister Sarah and painted the Greetings from Canton mural in the downtown area. This was the first mural we worked out of the RV and immediately noticed how much of a difference it made having all supplies in one place. We struggled to stay warm while painting, but we took breaks in the heated RV! We were so happy to see friends and family stopping by the mural to visit.

Special thanks to Buzzbin Mike for the wall space and linking us with local artist Steve Ehret aka Monster Steve who collaborated on the "O" with us.  One of our favorite parts of this mural is the three color 3D in the lettering which was referenced from an original Greetings From Canton large letter postcard in the mid-century.

We rented some scaffolding for this mural and transported it via the RV. The scaffolding got to experience our bed before we did! The ideas for the mural came from local suggestions from friends and family. Since Lisa grew up there, she knew what to incorporate to be more timeless. This was one of the first large scale spray painted street art pieces in the downtown area. The existing wall was a bright Spring green so it was already a fun color to work with.

Since we have painted this mural, the downtown area has really come to life. Last time we returned, it was backed on a Friday and even allowed drinking on the streets (within contained areas.) We are more than happy to see the downtown Canton area thriving. We also love to see people interacting with the artwork and tagging us in photos on Instagram. This mural has been on many lists of things to do in Canton. Make sure you stop by and get creative with your modern day postcard photo!

Little did we know that the Greetings from Canton mural would lead to multiple postcard murals in the state of Ohio. We currently have the most murals in this state including Cleveland, Toledo, Sandusky and Springfield. After all, it is known as the heart of America, and we certainly don’t mind since we get to see a lot of family and friends. Thank you, Canton!
