Cooperstown, NY
Greetings from Cooperstown, NY! This mural is actually located at the Cooperstown All Star Village in Oneonta about a half hour away. If you are planning to visit, please note that there’s limited access to this mural only when the camp & resort is in (summer) season. We recommend calling to confirm operating hours. This Cooperstown mural was painted on a large, custom fabricated 8x16 canvas similar to our Grand Ledge and Golden murals. This way, the mural can be transported and stored safely in the off season. In addition, there’s always the possibility of relocating the mural in the future if ever needed. Special thanks to our assistant David Wang for helping with the fabrication, painting and delivery of this piece.
The Cooperstown All Star Village was founded in 1999 to provide baseball players ages 10 to 12 with a major league baseball experience. It’s the first and only baseball resort and tournament camp in America. It’s kind of like Victor’s childhood dream of going to Woodward skate camp but for those that are into baseball! The property has two boutique hotels, heated swimming pool, 18 hole golf course, restaurants and bars. It’s a dream summer time experience for kids into baseball that the whole family can enjoy.
We recently took some time off to welcome a new addition to our family and future Greetings Tour assistant! However, we stayed busy in the background working on some local murals and digital design projects. Luckily, we have an amazing team of talented artists assisting us across the country to help get rush projects done in time. After designing and painting 50+ murals, we have built a custom process that streamlines the production. We are very much involved in all design, pre-production and quality control through the entire projects.
Cooperstown is home to the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was only fitting that we created a mural here after we painted Lisa’s hometown of Canton, OH where the Pro Football Hall of Fame is located. We also painted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland! One day, we’ll have to create our own physical Wall of Fame for the top mural hunters collecting all our murals!
We have visited Cooperstown in the past and it’s a very peaceful upstate lake front town. We would highly suggest take a day trip if you are in the city, especially if you are a baseball fan. Another Greetings Tour connection to baseball is our Louisville mural where we got to paint and visit the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. The connections with America and baseball are essentially endless!
For this mural, the interior detailed images were all painted with brush due to the smaller size. We have mixed brush with spray paint in the past but this process of all brush was unique for us. Mixing custom colors in advance has always been a challenge for us on the road but it’s something we can start to try out now that we have a home base studio. However, Montana spray paint will always be our medium of choice as it gives the murals a unique aesthetic that can’t be achieved with only brush.
Once the mural was completed, we packed it up and drove it from the studio in Boston to its new home at Cooperstown All Star Village. They had an amazing facilities team that helped weld a custom frame to install these panels into. We’re happy with the end result and love the portable aspect of this piece. Hopefully, one day, this could be hosted in downtown Cooperstown during the off season!
