Greetings from Golden, CO Mural - Public Art at History Museum

Greetings from Golden, our second mural in the state of Colorado! This marks our 40th mural on the Greetings Tour after living 4 years on the road traveling and painting across the US. Our newest mural is located along Clear Creek on the side of the Golden History Museum & Park. The public art installation was commissioned by the museum and the Public Art Committee.

We were thrilled when the Golden History Museum reached out inviting us to paint during their Arts Week during July of 2019. The mission of their Arts Week is to place value on creativity and that’s what we’re all about!

We had previously been to Golden when visiting with Denver friends after hiking North Table Mountain. Little did we know, we would be returning to paint the town just a year later! We drove in from the west after spending 4th of July in Steamboat Springs with those same Denver friends. We were all planning to tube down Clear Creek, but the river was closed off due to high water levels. However, we still got to enjoy painting right next to a small river, which was a first!

Montana Gold Spray Paint - Colorado Mural Artist Supplies

We gathered our supplies in town and found our canvas on the side of the history museum perfectly positioned across the trail from Clear Creek. Because the Museum would potentially move, we painted the artwork on some fabricated panels. It was interesting because the canvas itself, had the feeling of a freight train which went with the Western theme. Over the course of the next 6 days, we completed the mural with help from our friends Dominic Corry and Ben Janik. Both artists have worked with us before and it was great having them back with us to help make this mural possible.

WIP - Greetings from Golden Sign - Welcome Mural

We really enjoy learning so much about the history and culture of each city that we paint in. This was no exception in Golden especially since we worked so closely with a history museum. During our down time, we strolled into the museum to walk through the exhibits and really understand the roots of this community. Even though Golden is widely known for the Coors factory & the Clear Creek Whitewater Park there’s so much more to it. We encourage everyone to stop by the museum if they have a chance.

For the foodies, we recommend trying some Himalayan food at Sherpa House Restaurant & Cultural Center. In addition, there’s some great sandwich shops over at Snarf’s and D’Deli. They kept us fueled up during the long, hot days of painting.

We finished on time, after battling through the summer heat and mosquito bites. Luckily, the city was able to put us up at their RV park which was also right along the water and not far from the wall. Thank you to those who stopped by to share their story, to the artists and to Golden History Museum for adding another Greetings mural to our journey across America.

The Greetings from Golden mural has become a beloved community icon, a destination for locals and tourists alike, and given the Golden History Museum a new visual identity. Victor and Lisa are creative, responsive, flexible and terrific to work with.
