Route 66 Mural Artist

I am a Route 66 mural artist currently based in Southern California. I have spent many years traveling the entire length of the Mother Road from Chicago to Santa Monica. To date, I have completed several public art murals in cities along historic Route 66. These murals can be found in Chicago, Litchfield, Springfield, Auburn, Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, Pasadena and Santa Monica. I specialize in artwork from this Americana era of mid-century travel & tourism. Some of our popular styles include large letter postcards, travel decals & art deco posters.

Every city and town along Route 66 has their own unique history with America’s highway. Our goal is to dive into the culture and heritage of each place along the way to represent their contribution to the Mother Road. Travelers will traditionally go from East to West on Route 66 so the beginning of the trail around Illinois is heavily celebrated. Along the way, some of the novelty fades away in smaller towns but our goal is to revitalize this lost spirit. We are excited about the centennial of Route 66 in 2026 which may bring back interest.

One of my biggest inspirations is the late, legendary Route 66 artist Bob Waldmire. I discovered his van and converted school bus at a museum in Pontiac, IL. After learning about his journey, I realized that we had a lot in common as traveling artists. Except, I admire that he was able to do this at a time way before the internet. I had the opportunity to meet his brother, Buz Waldmire while in Springfield, IL to get a peek into some of the archives. I was humbled to say the least and will strive to always put him in the spotlight when I create Route 66 related artwork in the future.

On our Greetings Tour project, my wife and I traveled the country full time in a RV for 5+ years. We were able to get a great sense of the road across cities and small towns. We experienced the quirks of driving west on Route 66 towards the sunset every evening. Also, experiencing the route going East with the sun in our eyes in the mornings. My wife, Lisa Beggs is a photographer and documented our Route 66 road trip travels.

Pasadena Foothill - Route 66 Mural

While I still travel to paint murals all across the country, my home base is now in Pasadena, CA. It just so happens to be one of the cities that Route 66 passes through in Southern California. I’m humbled to live in a place associated with the history of this road. I’m available to paint custom murals focused on Route 66 to help create timeless landmarks. These artworks have proven to increase tourism and support local small businesses. Give me a shout if interested in working together on a Route 66 mural project!
